Launch of Civil Service Talent Management Learning Center

By Stephanie McFadden O’Neill

In July, the Office of Civil Service Talent Management (CSTM) in the Bureau of Global Talent Management (GTM) launched the Civil Service Talent Management Learning Center* on the CSTM homepage. The Learning Center is a consolidated video library of recorded webinars, training sessions, and bite-size learning snacks—informational videos produced by CSTM subject matter experts under six minutes in length. It supports CSTM’s continuous efforts to help Civil Service (CS) employees thrive in their careers at the Department of State.

With more than 50 recordings, this growing library covers a range of policy and program topics related to CS hiring, the latest training and development programs, CS performance management, and executive resources. Employees are encouraged to follow channels of interest, including a channel that targets CS hiring managers with resources that dispel CS hiring myths, highlight the benefits of using shared certificates, and more. The CS Hiring for HR Professionals channel features study sessions and informational videos of interest to members of the Department’s human resources community. The CDRC Workshop Recordings channel helps CS employees take control of their personal brand and career with topics such as how to draft effective resumes and accomplishment statements and how to hone interviewing skills. The CS Career Development channel introduces courses and training programs for CS employees at General Schedule-7 through senior executive service. Lastly, the CS Performance Management Resources channel offers informative learning snacks and informational videos to support rating officials and CS employees throughout the performance management cycle.

GTM/CSTM homepage on the GTM portal contains more information about recent accomplishments related to supporting critical CS staffing needs, outreach and education, innovative pilot programs, leveraging technology to continually improve services and resources for the CS workforce, and how CSTM is putting DEIA principles into action
