Public diplomacy initiative debuts South African artist at Kennedy Center

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs welcomed powerhouse vocalist-songwriter Nomfusi and her seven-piece band to the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, July 13. During her U.S. debut, Nomfusi is touring the country as part of the cultural diplomacy initiative Center Stage, among the most successful programs to bring contemporary international performing artists into direct contact with a wide range of American communities. Since 2012, Center Stage has welcomed 47 performing arts ensembles from 17 countries into national cultural dialogue and built lasting and meaningful connections that position the United States as a partner for peace and prosperity.
