Ambassador presides over cultural preservation grant ceremony

U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia Brian McFeeters (right) presided over the closing ceremony of the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) project to preserve the traditional drumming and dance performance called Rebana Kercing, Jan. 4. Funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the project was organized by Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) and led by an International Visitor Leadership Program alumnus. The event marked the culmination of a yearlong preservation effort by UMK. The partnership with UMK also marks the 20th anniversary of AFCP and highlights the contributions of Department of State Exchange Alumni in preserving and restoring arts and culture in Malaysia.
