U.S. Foreign Service Internship Program delivers on diversity

Students from the U.S. Foreign Service Internship Program (USFSIP) visited the Department of State’s Harry S Truman Building, June 6, 2022, during the domestic portion of their program, which spans two consecutive summers. This summer they will be interning at a post overseas. By offering participants from under-represented communities first-hand experience in U.S. diplomacy, USFSIP contributes to creating a workforce that represents the rich diversity of the United States. To date, 170 students have participated in the program with nearly 20% returning to the Department by joining the Foreign Service, Civil Service, or becoming a contractor.
