The public diplomacy section at Embassy Paramaribo hosted NASA Engineer Z. Nagin Cox as part of a Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Speaker’s Program, Aug. 8-12. This event supported the section’s programming on women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As the mission manager for the Mars Curiosity and Perseverance rovers, Cox shared her passion for robotic exploration of space and answered questions about life on Mars. Suriname’s Robotics team and a group of young female coders had the chance to show Cox their projects. Cox (far right) also witnessed USG alumni volunteers in action in a post-funded STEAM It! science fair for elementary students in the interior village of Redi Doti.
