Ambassador Lisa Kenna (back row, eighth from right) inaugurated the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs’ Intersection of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) substance abuse treatment program at the San Juan Bautista Community Mental Health Center in Ayacucho, June 15. The program will train health professionals in evidence-based practices to deliver inclusive and culturally responsive substance abuse treatment services for the LGBTQI+ community. Kenna also recorded remarks for a virtual launch of the program in five additional regions of Peru: Cajamarca, San Martin, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, and Amazonas. When training concludes at the end of 2022, SOGI will operate in 19 regions of Peru.
