In June, the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR) held two bureau-wide “Wellness Days” designed to relieve employees from the stress of their jobs to focus on their mental, emotional, and physical health. EUR partnered with a variety of experts, both inside and outside of the Department of State, to provide sessions on mindfulness, meditation, physical fitness, emotional intelligence, work-life integration, financial planning, and a variety of other topics throughout the events. Department leaders, experts from the Foreign Service Institute, and staff from Employee Consultation Services participated. EUR Assistant Secretary Karen Donfried (front row, 4th from left) participated by joining EUR officers on a walk to the Lincoln Monument as part of their Wellness Day event, June 8.
