Ceremony celebrates progress of new embassy in Honduras

Ambassador Laura Dogu (right) and Honduras Foreign Minister Enrique Reina (left) commemorated the topping out—a builders’ rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction—of the new U.S. embassy campus in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, May 27. This ceremony marked the symbolic midway point of construction for the new embassy project. The new campus will underscore the Department of State’s commitment to environmental leadership and demonstrate sustainable design, construction, and operations that represent the best of U.S. architecture, engineering, and construction execution.
