OBO breaks ground on new U.S. Consulate General in Lagos

The Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) celebrated the groundbreaking for the new U.S. consulate general project in Lagos, Nigeria, March 31. The new consulate, designed by Ennead Architects, is located on a 12.2-acre site in the burgeoning Eko Atlantic district and will incorporate a range of energy efficiency strategies to address extreme seasonal conditions and significantly reduce energy demand. The project will support the important U.S.-Nigerian diplomatic and commercial relations, and embodies OBO’s mission to provide safe, secure, functional, and resilient facilities that ensure a robust platform for U.S. diplomacy abroad. Completion is anticipated in 2027.
