Assistant Secretary prepares local cuisine with world renowned chef

Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu (second from left) prepares plov—a rice dish—with world-renowned Uzbek chef Bahriddin Chustiy (far right) during his visit to Tashkent for the Strategic Partnership Dialogue, December 2021. The U.S. delegation and members of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs also celebrated this local tradition, and learned about the history and secrets of preparing the perfect plov.
