Embassy Mogadishu recently highlighted USAID Somalia’s Bar ama Baro (Teach or Learn) program working on expanding access to education for Somali children who were not previously in the classroom. Program staff started by assessing the infrastructure needs of 200 learning centers and rehabilitating them where necessary. They also partnered with the Somali government to finalize an accelerated basic education curriculum and train hundreds of teachers to deploy it in schools across the country. Thanks to USAID’s support, eligible students will now be able to catch up on valuable in-person instruction.
