Canberra vaccinations off to a musical start

During the designated vaccine administration weeks in April and May, the Health Unit at Embassy Canberra arranged live acoustic guitar music by Brian Hennessey (center). He played for vaccine recipients as they remained in the observation room following their shots. Hundreds of members of the Canberra community were soothed by the sounds of the guitar, many of them smiling and remarking how they would rather stay to listen than return to work. During the second round of shots in May, a young woman requested the guitarist play an Irish ballad, “Whiskey in the Jar,” which resulted in an impromptu singing performance by her and Hennessey.  The song ended with a rousing ovation by the other 25 embassy employees in the waiting room.
