Mission Uganda leader visits with local beekeepers

USAID Mission Director Richard Nelson visited Golden Bees Honey Shop Ltd. located in Nakapiripirit district in northeastern Uganda, March 22. During the visit, he interacted with members of the Muruita Honey Producers and Processors Association. Participants explained how the new advisory services provided through Feed the Future and USAID are helping beekeepers increase productivity and improve the quality of bee products in the Karamoja region. Through training on value addition, the farmers produced bee products including organic honey, beeswax, candles, propolis, and mosquito repellant. In 2020, the group produced 7,000 kilograms of organic honey.
