Bilateral exercise helps secure regional stability

U.S. and Moroccan fighter jets flew over the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Atlantic Ocean during “Lightning Handshake,” a bilateral maritime exercise involving U.S. and Moroccan armed forces, March 3. Morocco is a critical partner with the United States on a range of security issues. Embassy Rabat supports Moroccan participation in dozens of military engagements with the United States annually, including “African Lion”—the largest annual military exercise in Africa. These exercises increase U.S. and Moroccan forces’ ability to work together to address security concerns and stability in the region.
