MOU promotes good governance in Morocco

Chargé d’Affaires David Greene of Embassy Morocco traveled to Béni Mellal-Khenifra—a scenic mountainous region known as Morocco’s breadbasket—for a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) bringing the local governing bodies into the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Local program, Jan. 27. Launched in 2011, OGP is a U.S. government initiative that promotes transparency, accountability, citizen engagement, and innovative technology use. At the regional level, the initiative seeks to help participating officials learn how to use these open government values to better meet the needs of the citizens they serve. In Béni Mellal-Khenifra specifically, the signing of this MOU aims to improve the lives of the region’s 2.6 million inhabitants.
