FSI’s Portuguese section hosts virtual Folk Festival

The Portuguese section of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) hosted a virtual party, June Zoom Folk Festival, June 24. The festival celebrated the traditional Festas Juninas in Brazil, Santos Populares in Portugal, and folk festivals in Portuguese-speaking African countries and Timor Leste. Portuguese instructors and students participated in various activities, listened to music, played interactive games with the Kahoot app, saw a short documentary about popular saints produced by the students, and enjoyed final conversations, bate-papo, in break-out rooms. Students also demonstrated how to make sangria and explained the similarities between bolo de milho (corn cake) from Brazil and e pão de milho (cornbread) from the United States.
