Embassy Panama donates PPE to Panamanian hospital

Embassy Panama Chargé d’Affaires Ryan Rowlands bumps elbows with Panamanian Vice Minister of Health Ivette Berrio in solidarity, July 27. The embassy provided Panama with thousands of surgical masks, gloves, and essential personal protective equipment, just as the San Miguel Arcangel hospital was reportedly running out. The COVID-19 pandemic has been unrelenting in its spread in Panama and—in response—U.S. assistance to Panamanian partners has steadily increased. The U.S. interagency is in close coordination to streamline assistance and donations in surging novel coronavirus cases. The donation is part of the embassy’s campaign to reinforce the social media campaign “#WeAreInThisTogether,” highlighting the role of international cooperation in combating this transnational health threat.
