Embassy Warsaw DCM marks anniversary of Warsaw Uprising

Embassy Warsaw’s Deputy Chief of Mission Bix Aliu (right) laid a wreath at the Monument to the Warsaw Uprising in honor of Poles who gave their lives 76 years ago in the fight for freedom, July 31. A mix of soldiers and teenaged members of a Polish scouting organization were stationed at the monument throughout the commemoration. A siren sounded at 5 p.m. on Aug. 1, signaling the population of the city to stop for a moment of silence to mark the exact moment the World War II-era uprising began.
