Embassy Kolonia co-hosts awareness walk

In commemoration of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Embassy Kolonia partnered with the International Organization for Migration and the Federated States of Micronesia’s (FSM) Department of Justice on a community awareness walk in Pohnpei, July 30. To raise awareness and draw attention to a newly created hotline to report human trafficking issues, the organizers distributed 300 t-shirts and bumper stickers to participants. U.S. Ambassador Carmen G. Cantor highlighted the 20th anniversary of the Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons report during her remarks at the event, reiterating that, “We are all first responders, we must all do our part and end human trafficking.” Many prominent FSM leaders attended the event including Vice President Yosiwo P. George, the Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs Kandhi Elieisar, Attorney General Joses Gallen, and members of the diplomatic corps.
