The United States and The Bahamas concluded an Open Skies Air Transport Agreement, Jan. 27. Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs Assistant Secretary Manisha Singh (first row, right) signed on behalf of the United States. Both sides hailed the agreement as a milestone not only in the U.S.-Bahamas bilateral relationship but in strengthening economic ties, particularly in tourism, which hit record numbers in 2019. Deputy Assistant Secretary David Short (second row, right) applauded the signing of the agreement. Embassy Nassau Chargé d’Affaires Stephanie Bowers (second row, center) called the signing an unequivocal signal that “The Bahamas is open for business” after the devastation to the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco by Hurricane Dorian last September.
