Announcing the Bureau of Global Talent Management

Director General Carol Z. Perez announced the new name of the Bureau of Human Resources, Feb. 19. The Bureau of Human Resources is now officially renamed the Bureau of Global Talent Management (GTM). “Global Talent Management better captures the scope and strategic nature of the bureau’s work,” said Perez, who will now be known as the Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Global Talent. “This is an important move in our efforts to modernize and better align the bureau with the under secretary of management’s key priorities, talent being the first among them.” At a town hall in November, Perez applauded the extensive input of bureau employees who helped to implement this change from its inception. While the renaming of the bureau is symbolic, it does not mean a reorganization. The core functions and mission of GTM will remain the same—to recruit, develop, and empower the world’s premier diplomatic team in order to advance U.S. foreign policy goals and serve the American people.
