Stephen E. Biegun – Deputy Secretary of State

Stephen E. Biegun of Michigan is the new Deputy Secretary of State. Previously Biegun served as the U.S. Special Representative for North Korea. Biegun has three decades of experience in government in the executive and legislative branches. He served as vice president of international governmental relations for the Ford Motor Company, national security advisor to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, worked as executive secretary of the National Security Council at the White House, and served as senior staff member to the National Security Advisor. He also served as a foreign policy advisor to members of both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Biegun has a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Andrew P. Bremberg – U.S. Representative to the Office of the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva

Andrew P. Bremberg of Virginia is the new U.S. Representative to the Office of the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva. Previously Bremberg served as assistant to the president and senior advisor for domestic policy at the White House, and he served as the manager and senior consultant of Right Policy, LLC from 2015-2017. Bremberg has also served as the director of the Domestic Policy Council, a policy advisor and counsel on nominations for the Office of Senate Majority Leader, and has held positions at the Department of Health and Human Services. Bremberg has a B.A. from Franciscan University and a J.D. from the Catholic University of America.
Roxanne Cabral – U.S. Ambassador to the Marshall Islands

Roxanne Cabral (SFS) of Virginia is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Cabral previously served as deputy chief of mission and chargé d’affaires in Panama. She has served as director of the Office of Policy, Planning and Resources in the Office of the Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, and has served at posts in Guangzhou, Tirana, Mexico City, and Kyiv. She also served in the Office of South-Central Europe in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Cabral has a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and an M.P.H. from John Hopkins University. She speaks Spanish and Chinese.
Carmen G. Cantor – U.S. Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia

Carmen G. Cantor (SFS) of Puerto Rico is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia. Cantor has served as director of the Bureau of Human Resources’ Civil Service Human Resource Management office at the Department since 2016. She has served as executive director of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Bureau of Information Programs, executive director of the Bureau of Counterterrorism, and has held other executive leadership positions at the Department of Agriculture and the Federal Maritime Commission. Cantor has a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaquez, and an M.A. from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, San Juan. She is fluent in Spanish.
Jonathan R. Cohen – U.S. Ambassador to Egypt

Jonathan R. Cohen (SFS) of California is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Since January 2019, Cohen served as acting U.S. representative to the United Nations and acting U.S. representative to the United Nations Security Council. He has served as deputy U.S representative, deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs, and his overseas posts included deputy chief of mission in Baghdad and acting deputy chief of mission in Paris. Cohen has served in other leadership positions in Nicosia, Rome, Ankara, Erbil, and Jerusalem. Cohen has an B.A. from Princeton University. He speaks French, Swedish, and Italian.
Kelly C. Degnan – U.S. Ambassador to Georgia

Kelly C. Degnan (SFS) of California is the new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia. She previously served as the foreign policy advisor to the commander of United States Naval Forces Europe–Naval Forces Africa. Degnan has served as deputy chief of mission in Italy, deputy executive secretary of state, deputy chief of mission in Pristina, and special assistant to the secretary of state and to the undersecretary for Political Affairs. She also served at positions in Brussels, Khost, and Ankara. Degnan has a B.S. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center. She speaks Italian, French, Turkish, and Urdu.
David T. Fischer – U.S. Ambassador to Morocco

David T. Fischer of Michigan is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco. He was previously chairman and chief executive officer of the Suburban Collection Holdings, a privately held conglomerate that includes one of the largest automotive dealership groups in the country. He has also served as chairman emeritus of the North American International Auto Show and has served as an advisor to multinational automotive manufacturers. Fischer has served on numerous social, welfare, civic, community, and foundational organizations in the Detroit area. He has a B.A. from Parsons College and attended executive education at Harvard Business School.
Robert S. Gilchrist – U.S. Ambassador to Lithuania

Robert S. Gilchrist (SFS) of Florida is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania. Gilchrist previously served from 2016-2019 as director of the Operations Center. He has served as deputy chief of mission in Sweden and Estonia, and led the Office of Nordic and Baltic Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Overseas he served as deputy political counselor in Iraq and chief of the Political Section in Romania, and has also served as a special assistant in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State. He has a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.A. from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. He speaks Spanish, French, Estonian, and Romanian.
Peter M. Haymond – U.S. Ambassador to Lao

Peter M. Haymond (SFS) of Virginia is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Previously, he served as deputy chief of mission chargé d’affaires in Bangkok. In his 30 years with the Department, Haymond has served as director of the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs, consul general in Chengdu, deputy chief of mission in Vientiane, division chief in the Office of Energy and Commodities, and as Arabian Peninsula officer in the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism. He has a B.A. from Brigham Young University and an M.A.L.D. and Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He speaks Lao, Thai, Mandarin, and French.
Yuri Kim – U.S. Ambassador to Albania

Yuri Kim (SFS) of Guam is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Albania. Previously, Kim served as director of the Office of Southern European Affairs. She has served as director for the Center for the Study of Conduct of Diplomacy, chief of staff to the Deputy Secretary of State, director of the Office of European Security and Political-Military Affairs, and special assistant to the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Kim has also served positions at posts in Turkey, Iraq, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and China. She has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.Phil. from Cambridge University. She speaks Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, and Turkish.
John J. Sullivan – U.S. Ambassador to Russia

John J. Sullivan of Maryland is the new U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Sullivan previously served as deputy secretary of state, and in April 2018, he served as acting secretary of state. Prior to serving in the Foreign Service, Sullivan was a partner in Mayer Brown LLP and co-chair of the law firm’s national security practice. In addition to practicing private law, Sullivan has held other senior positions at the Departments of Justice, Defense, and Commerce, including deputy secretary of commerce from 2007-2009, general counsel, and deputy general counsel. Sullivan has a B.A. from Brown University and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law Review.
Adrian Zuckerman – U.S. Ambassador to Romania

Adrian Zuckerman of New Jersey is the new U.S. Ambassador to Romania. A New York attorney, Zuckerman previously served as an equity partner in the real estate practice of the international law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP. He chaired the New York City civil court judicial screening panel and served as an arbitrator for the Real Estate Board of New York. Zuckerman has two B.S. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a J.D. from New York Law School. He is fluent in Romanian.
