Danika L. Walters

James Clement Dunn Award for Excellence
In recognition of creativity, commitment, and skillful management in establishing the START Forward Team—Syria Transition Assistance Response Team—and leading the Department’s Syrian assistance programs. Walters’ efforts to deliver much needed stabilization and humanitarian assistance were decisive in turning the tide against ISIS and alleviating human suffering.

Leamon R. Hunt Award for Management Excellence
For exceptional leadership which significantly improved operations and increased overall mission effectiveness and placed Embassy Beirut’s management platform on a solid and successful footing.

Robert “Eli” T. Whitney

Sean Smith Innovation in the use of Technology Award
For planning, developing, and implementing a broadly applicable smart algorithm which serves as a high-tech early warning system, leveraging expansive open source data for use across the Department and beyond.

Kimberley A. Wise

Foreign Service National of the Year (EUR)
In recognition of her outstanding achievements in support of the safety and security of U.S. citizens in Spain and in the United States.

Hugo Y. Yon

Cordell Hull Award for Economic Achievement by Senior Officers
For outstanding leadership of the U.S. government’s negotiation enterprise in delivering new aviation agreements that secured the continuity of transatlantic flights to and through the U.K., expanded U.S. commercial access to Japan, and preserved the ability of U.S. airlines to fly into and across Asia.

Thomas W. Zarzecki

Secretary’s Award for International Security Affairs
For developing the vision and leading the execution of the U.S. government’s implementation of Section 231 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. Zarzecki’s leadership has deprived adversaries and advanced U.S. interests around the world.
