The Office of Recruitment, Examination and Employment hosted an all-hands meeting in Washington, D.C., to onboard new Diplomats in Residence (DIR) and Washington-based recruiters, Aug. 5-9. DIRs are career Foreign Service generalists and specialists located throughout the U.S. who provide guidance and advice on careers, internships and fellowships to students and professionals in the communities they serve. The Washington-based recruiters are a mix of civil service and Foreign Service personnel. The meeting gave new team members the opportunity to listen and share best practices with other Department of State leadership and brainstorm opportunities for recruitment activities that align with the Department’s hiring priorities for 2019-2020.
