Embassy Rabat supports sustainable housing competition

Members of InterHouse—a joint U.S.-Moroccan student team from the Colorado School of Mines, Cadi Ayyad University and the School of Industrial Management—survey construction of their net-zero-energy house prototype that was showcased during the 2019 Solar Decathlon Africa in Ben Guerir, Morocco, Sept. 13-27. This Department of Energy initiative, hosted for the first time in Africa by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in partnership with Embassy Rabat and Morocco’s Solar and Renewable Energy Research Institute, saw 20 teams from around the globe compete for the first sustainable housing competition on the continent. The winning designs integrated innovative use of sustainable materials, green technology and affordable solutions.
