Cultural celebration highlights SAAEA decennial anniversary

The South Asian American Employee Association (SAAEA), one of the Department’s 14 employee affinity groups, celebrated their 10-year anniversary with a cultural celebration, Aug. 1, in Washington. Moshtayeen Ahmad and Julisara Mathew, president and vice president of SAAEA, led a packed auditorium through a dynamic program that included welcome remarks by Ambassador Alice G. Wells from the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. The colorful and energetic performances that followed included representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Gregory B. Smith, Director of the Office of Civil Rights, closed the event with remarks.
