The U.S. Consulate General in Toronto partnered with Mamava, Inc. to install a lactation pod to provide a safe, clean and comfortable space for lactating mothers, and to comply with the mandate of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Affordable Care Act. The Mamava Lactation Suite is the only self-contained product on the market built strictly for use as a mobile lactation space. The free-standing Mamava has solved Toronto’s space challenges by providing a stand-alone unit specifically designed for mothers to pump or nurse. The installation of the Mamava demonstrates the U.S. Consulate General’s commitment to work-life balance and to making the consulate friendlier to mothers and families. This is the first Mamava to be installed in the Department of State.
